Smoke Shops Raids Turn Up Marijuana, Untaxed Tobacco In South Jersey: Cops

A pair of smoke shops allegedly selling marijuana and untaxed tobacco were raided by police and state agents in South Jersey, authorities said.

The raids resulted in the arrest of three men from New York City and Delaware, Gloucester Township police said on Thursday, Sept. 28.

On Sept. 19, the Gloucester Township Police Department with the assistance of Winslow Township PD, Clayton Borough PD and agents from the New Jersey Department of the Treasury, Division of Taxation, Office of Criminal Investigation Unit executed a search warrant at two smoke shop retail locations in Camden County. They were:

  • Exotic Smoke Shop at 1234 Chews Landing Road in Clementon, and
  • Vape and Smoke Shop at 408 East Church Street in Blackwood.

Officers allegedly seized large quantities of raw packaged marijuana, marijuana edibles, marijuana vape cartridges, nitrous oxide canisters and thousands of untaxed tobacco products, police said.

The owner of both smoke shop businesses, Abdo Saeed, 28, of Wilmington, Delaware, was charged with the Leader of Narcotics Trafficking Network, Manufacturing/ Distribution of Controlled Dangerous Substances (CDS), Distribution of CDS/Park, Money Laundering, Distribution of CDS Paraphernalia, Sale of Device to Defraud Administration of Law, Sale of a Toxic Chemical (Nitrous Oxide), and Maintaining a Nuisance, police said.

Two employees were charged with Sale of Device to Defraud Administration of Law, police said: Ebrahim Alzabidi, 43, of Brooklyn, NY, and Munzer Azafari, 29, of Staten Island, NY.
